It has had some fairly good ratings during its limited run on ABC, and now, Secrets And Lies could become a contender for a season two pickup on the network.
The series, which began March 1 and was touted as a special 10-episode event, has officially been declared as likely to be renewed by TV By The Numbers, which is often a good indicator of shows that have a chance at being renewed or cancelled--meaning there is a slim possibility ABC will pick up the thrilling and twisted murder mystery for a new batch of episodes next year.
If the show is renewed however, it is unclear how the format could possibly change, as the original series (starring Ryan Phillippe as the presumed murder suspect) will wrap its arc in the May 3 finale--meaning the pilot and characters could all change before a new season (in the same way HBO's True Detective changed its entire cast and plotline between seasons). However, there is also a possibility that while Phillippe's character Ben Crawford and his family, friends, and neighbors could all move on--but Detective Andrea Cornell (Juliette Lewis) could follow through on a new case.
Regardless of the show's fate and future potential episodes, fans are itching to find out just who murdered Ben's little boy, Tom, on the current season of the show. Most recently, Ben finally had a breakthrough from the night of the murder, which could potentially clear him of all suspicion--but the question of who murdered a child is still unanswered.
Secrets & Lies airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
