The Salute for Women in Sports event, held on Oct. 17 in New York City, honored female athletes for their accomplishments and arguably the highest honor of the night went to Team USA gymnast and 2012 Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas.

Douglas, 16, was honored with the Sportswoman of the Year award for an individual athlete and the gymast was all smiles, shining in a black and gold BCBG dress and matching gold heels at Cipriani Wall Street. Douglas came to the event wearing her two Olympic medals from the 2012 Games, where she competed and won in both the individual and team all-around competitions. Her fellow Team USA "Fab Five" gymnasts include Jordyn Wieber, Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney and Kyla Ross.

Douglas is the third gymnast to ever win the Sportswoman of the Year award. Talking to Enstarz.com about being recognized for the award, she said, "It feels amazing. I'm just so honored to be here and so happy."

Douglas is currently on a gymnastics tour to 40 different cities with her fellow Team USA gymnasts and though she said it may be tiring at some points, she enjoys it.

"The tour is fun, we're just performing and dancing and the good thing about the tour is that it keeps us in shape."

Does she have any athletic favorites of her own? Douglas revealed that she enjoys watching swimming and her top favorites are Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte.

Douglas is also working on a new book and she told Enstarz, "It's mainly about my story and where I came from. What I want people to take away is I want them to be motivated and inspired."

Also at the event was Douglas's fellow tour buddy and Team USA gymnast Jordyn Wieber. She also spoke about the tour, saying "the performance aspect of it is really fun... Just making sure we get alot of rest in between." When she was asked what she thought of former Olympian and gymnast Shawn Johnson's dancing abilities on "Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars," she gave a major nod to Johnson, saying, "I think she's doing very well. We actually just saw her the other day, she came and we did a little shooting for the show and I think she's doing excellent."

But would she would to be in a dancing competition herself?

"That would be a dream come true. I love dancing. On tour we can incorporate a little bit of dancing and I love it." Wieber said.

Other attendees at the event included Alex Morgan, Katie Holloway, Carli Lloyd and Missy Franklin.
