The prelude to the finale of season 10 of Criminal Minds is going to be an intense one, its recently released preview reveals.

'Mr. Scratch' Inspired By 'Nosferatu'?

The clip for the episode 22, titled 'Protection' doesn't give away many character spoilers, but does show a crazed psychopath, who is going to make for the BAU's next case. "He's what we call a moral enforcer," says Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore) of the criminal. "Now anyone can be a target to him," he adds.

"Where justice ends, madness begins," runs the tagline.

The BAU Will Be Fighing For 'One Of Their Own' In The Finale

Showrunner Erica Messer previously spoke to Zap2it, about the interview revealed that while the finale wouldn't be a double whammy like in the last season, but that the episode preceding it will drop the suspense to be resolved in the final act.

"We're not doing a two-hour finale this year, but the end of episode 22 will have a cliffhanger that will play out in episode 23, which is our finale this year," she said.

Messer went on to reveal that they will tie the finale in with the premiere of the season by bringing back the criminal from the first episode.

"We will bring back the creepy, Internet stalker guy from the premiere. That story will be tied together," Messer said.

Also, fans can be assured of the fact that there would be "no major deaths" in the concluding bit.

The finale will be pretty intense for Kate Callahan (Jennifer Love Hewitt), Messer revealed. "It will be a very heavy episode for Kate," she said.

The episode will air on April 29 on CBS.
