Which Italian Actor Scored A Potential Recurring Role On 'Grey's Anatomy'?

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, which released Thursday night after the episode aired on the East Coast, Dempsey revealed that the change "just sort of evolved.

"It really was something that was kind of surprising that unfolded, and it just naturally came to be. Which was pretty good. I like the way it has all played out," Dempsey shared after being on the series since it began airing in 2005.

He went on to reflect on his time on the series, saying a favorite memory happens to be the pilot episode.

"The pilot was great. The pilot is the first time I watched it, and I couldn't believe how it came together, and the emotional impact it had on the show," he said, adding, "Everybody had these great moments. You realize how powerful an ensemble can be, and it was that collective that made it successful. Not just one individual."

The entertainment site revealed that Dempsey got choked up while talking about Ellen Pompeo, who portrays Dr. Meredith Grey on the series. Her character and Dempsey's character have an intense romantic history.

"It was magic. It's beautiful," Dempsey said of his time working with Pompeo on set.

"We're like a married couple. It's 10 years, and it was magic from the beginning. Chemistry right away," he dished.

So there's no more McDreamy, but there are a few episodes to go in Season 11.

Grey's Anatomy airs on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
