The departure of Nina Dobrev as Elena is nearing closer on The Vampire Diaries!

The Actor Who Plays Enzo On 'The Vampire Diaries' Discusses His Vampire Origins

During the episode called Because that aired Thursday night, viewers saw a shift in the characters they've grown to love and hate over the years.

For instance, Bonnie (Kat Graham) is finally putting herself before everyone else. That aside, Elena learned Damon (Ian Somerhalder) has possession of the cure.

Who Does Joseph Morgan Think Should Take The Cure On 'The Vampire Diaries'?

Ever since Dobrev announced she would be leaving the series it seemed likely her character would take the cure and that certainly seems like what will happen in the end.

Near the end of the episode that aired last night, Damon and Elena vowed to take the cure together.

The new trailer for the episode called I'd Leave My Happy Home for You that is set to air next Thursday, April 30, was uploaded last night by The CW Television Network's YouTube channel and it's wild.

In the trailer, which you can watch below, Elena tells Damon, "For you there's no going back."

"I'm madly in love with you," he declares before adding, "And taking this cure Elena won't change that."

Stefan (Paul Wesley) points out to his older brother that he never previously wanted to go back to being human. Plus, it took Damon's mother Lily (Annie Wersching) to give Elena the cure in last night's episode to even put it out there that it still exists as an option.

"I think being human is the last thing you want," Stefan tells Damon.

"I've made up my mind," Damon then declares before a montage of clips is shown, including Elena ingesting the cure.

Be sure to tune in for the final three episodes of the season to find out what happens to Elena, Damon and the rest of the folks in Mystic Falls.
