Thursday night during the episode called How to Save a Life, Derek saved lives in a car accident, but he then ended up in a car accident himself, which essentially took his life.

His Relationship With Meredith

Though it was rocky at times with instances such as the recent cheating scandal in Washington, D.C., Derek loved her and she loved him.

Adorable, quirky moments involving Post-It notes (their wedding vows) won't happen ever again between them.

The way Derek and Meredith would bicker. Honestly, one of the best moments was when Meredith realized she was his intern after their one-night stand, but he still continued to pursue her.

He'll never be able to confess to her that he cannot live without her ever again like he did during this eleventh season.

His Ability To Save Lives

As a doctor, Derek is able to save lives daily, but he has had moments where lives have been lost such as when he lost a pregnant patient. Despite some losses, the good Derek has done outweighs them.

He saved Meredith's life for instance when she slipped into the water at a ferryboat accident and nearly drowned in Season 3.

In Derek's final episode, he saved multiple lives in a bad car accident.

His Overall Dreamy-ness

Whether in scrubs at the hospital or lying in bed with Meredith after a hot romp, Derek looked so irresistible.

He really earned that nickname of McDreamy!
