The New York Jets go up against the New England Patriots on Sunday, Oct. 21, and they might put Tim Tebow as a running back to help them out, coach Rex Ryan said on Thursday.

When asked if he would play Tebow as a running back, expecially with some reports suggesting that both Joe McKnight and Bilal Powell might be out of Sunday's game because of injuries, Ryan answered, "That's a possibility."

"The thing about Tim, with him being a football player like we've always talked about, by playing quarterback he knows all the positions," Ryan said. "So, can you plug him at running back? Can you plug him at tight end? I think the answer is yes."

The report added that if McKnight and Powell are indeed out of Sunday's game at Gillette Stadium (Ryan admitted that the two did not practice for two days straight) the team's only running backs will be Shonn Greene and Jonathan Grimes, the latter which has yet to play in an NFL game.

Tebow is officially the team's backup quarterback, according to ESPN, and so far he had 64 rushing yards this season.

The sports network's report added that although the player has spoken about his dedication to the Jets ("I would be ready for whatever" he said Wednesday), when asked about playing running back, Tebow said. "I don't know. It's not something that's been talked [about] or planned or worked on at all, so probably not."

Tebow said to Vogue back in September that he has big plans for his future, including things outside of football.

"There are a lot of goals and ambitions that I have in life, things I want to accomplish. Who knows? I mean - it could be politics one day. I want to have a life that can help people," he said.

He also revealed similar sentiments to ESPN when they asked him if he would consider running for political office one day. He stated, "I haven't ruled it out. Whatever avenue I feel like I can make a difference in, I'd love to do. It won't be anytime soon in my future, but it'll be something I'll at least look at and consider one day."
