Shia LaBeouf Dishes About Transformers' 'Alternate Universe'

"Our female fans have demanded to be part of the story," Carroll said, senior brand manager. "To have them be represented as well is something that's only natural."

There have been female characters in the Transformers franchise before but none of them have played a pivotal role in the series, and Hasbro is looking to change that. This trend seems to have picked up from the fan-made female Transformer Windblade, who is also a character on a Cartoon Network series based on the Transformers.

It would be very interesting to see Transformers 5 incoporate this development in the movie as well, it will not only be refreshing but will make the film series very current and relevant.

Transformers 5 will most likely release in 2017, according to recent reports.

Transformers: Age of Extinction hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
