Monday night's episode of Dancing With the Stars featured a very surprising result as one of the potential frontrunners to win the competition was brutally eliminated.

Rumer Willis Reveals How She Got In Shape for 'Dancing WIth the Stars'

Willow Shields and her pro partner Mark Ballas were shockingly eliminated during last night's episode of Dancing With the Stars, surprising (and upsetting) many viewers. The pair was strong since the beginning of the competition with innovative dances and high passion every week.

The couple was sent home in spite of being one of the highest scoring dancers of the night.

Derek Hough May Be Injured, But He Says He's Not Withdrawing From 'DWTS'

There are now six couples remaining the competition: Nastia Liukin & Derek Hough; Rumer Willis & Val Chmerkovskiy, Riker Lynch & Allison Holker; Robert Herjavec & Kym Johnson; Noah Galloway & Sharna Burgess; Chris Soules & Witney Carson.

Dancing With the Stars fans on Twitter are absolutely outraged that Shields was eliminated so early in the competition.

"I'm highly upset! Rigged and wrong", one follower observed.

"This is the reason I quit watching. It's a popularity contest. Not who dances best," another said.

Another suggested, "Time to change the voting weighting. Give more weight to judges score. DWTS is loosing fans."

Another simply said, "ugh, something needs to be done!"

After this shocking boot, anything is possible for the remaining six couples as they compete for the Mirrorball trophy. Liukin, Lynch and Willis seem to be frontrunners at this point, but things could change in the final weeks of the competition.

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
