David Beckham began his 40th year in the world by joining Instagram and posting a shirtless photo.

On Saturday, Beckham rang in his birthday, shirtless, on Instagram. He shared a shot of him in bed and captioned the photo: "Good morning and hello! It's great to finally be on Instagram, been a long time coming but I can't wait to start sharing all my special moments with you. Thank you for all your birthday messages so far. Looking forward to a great day with friends and family x."

Then, the dad of four was joined by wife Victoria Beckham for breakfast in Morocco.

"I feel very spoilt this morning! #DB40," he captioned his next pic of himself surrounded by presents. It also appeared that his wife added a special touch with a "Happy Birthday" banner, confetti and birthdaty hats.

Beckham later shared a photo of himself with his eldest son, Brooklyn, which he captioned: "I feel a very lucky man. Here's a photo with @brooklynbeckham the real boss of the famiy!"

As the sun appeared to set behind them, Beckham shared a snap of him and his wife as she lied gently on his chest and they smiled into the camera.

He captioned that photo, "Thanks to my beautiful wife for such an amazing day x."

David Beckham now shares a birthday with Kate Middleton and Prince William's newest addition to the family -- an unnamed baby girl.
