The cast members of Downton Abbey have expressed their feelings over the series hitting its final mark.

Chatter On Mr. Bates's Consequences On 'Downton Abbey'

On Friday, ITV posted the details from the actors as they attended The Downton Abbey Ball at London's Savoy Hotel. Jim Carter, who plays Mr. Carson on the series, opened up on his sadness on the British drama coming to an end, although he knows it's going to be okay.

"It's probably the right time," he said. "Everything has to come to an end, but we shall miss it enormously."

'Downton Abbey' Star Is 'Not Upset' About The Series Ending

The actor then mentioned that it's going to be difficult to see the show's final days since it took up quite a few years of his life.

"I shall miss the fact that it's dictated my life for the last six years, but then there's always the challenge of doing something new so that's alright, I'll take it in my stride," he said.

So what's next for Mr. Carson and his relationship with Mrs. Hughes? Carter is hoping the best for them, but only time will tell on what happens between them.

He said, "I'll leave that to [series creator] Julian Fellowes, but Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes have got to get together, haven't they?"

Laura Carmichael, who plays Edith, mentioned that everyone else is expecting her to be the most emotional of the bunch when the series ends.

"We were asked who was going to cry the most and everyone said me," she admitted. "I would say me too, I'm the weak one."

Downton Abbey Season 6 is expected to premiere in the United States in January 2016 on PBS.
