They are still considered perhaps the most iconic soap couple in history, and though they haven't been on screen together in a couple of years, fans of General Hospital are going to get another look at Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis) Spencer together again.

Show writer Frank Valentini spilled the beans about Francis returning to the soap on Twitter April 29, revealing she was going to come back to the show.

"Hey #GH fans: I have AWESOME news...@GenieFrancis is coming back to @GeneralHospital!!!" he wrote.

It is currently unclear for how long Frances would be back and when exactly fans would see her on-screen, but her presence could mean something big happening once again with Luke's storyline.

The truth behind Luke's puzzling split personality was finally revealed in April, when, with the help of his sister, Patricia (Dee Wallace) he finally remembered the night he killed both his parents as a teen--and realized that his blacking out the facts about what happened that night caused him to embrace his dark side and do the horrible things he had done recently.

Luke was last seen after his family successfully campaigned on his behalf to have him sent to a mental health facility for evaluation over prison.

Though the details about Francis' return are currently being kept quiet, Valentini did talk to TVLine about her return and express his excitement over her coming back as well.

"Genie is a part of out GH family, and the door has always been open for her to return when the timing and story are right," he said. "Lucky for us, the stars have aligned and we are thrilled to welcome Genie back home."

General Hospital airs Monday-Friday on ABC.
