The relationship between Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) is bound to unfold in new ways in the season finale of ABC's Once Upon a Time.

Emma has shown her capacity for the dark side after killing Cruella (Victoria Smurfit) and the Author (Patrick Fischler) is now capable of writing any kind of story for our main characters because of it.

Once Upon a Time co-creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz spoke with Zap2It this week about how Emma's relationship with Hook might be tested going forward.

"We've seen some big moments in their relationship, and we have some highly emotional moments planned for the two of them for the rest of this season," Horowitz said.

It looks like Emma will get very honest about her feelings towards Hook.

"We are going to get some real insight into Emma and how she really feels about Hook and what she really thinks. We're excited about that," Kitsis added.

Emma's struggle in the finale is also one with herself, according to the showrunners.

"For Emma it's a combination of external and internal forces. She's going to have to deal with the ramifications what she's done [murdering Cruella], who she is and who she has become," Horowitz said. "That's going to go right into the external with the folks who are testing her to use what she's doing to their advantage."

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
