Viewers of Grey's Anatomy are still recovering from the tragic death of Dr. Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey).

Ellen Pompeo Speaks Out About Patrick Dempsey's Departure From 'Grey's Anatomy'

Last Thursday, the medical drama fast-tracked over several months as the other characters mourned Derek in their own ways such as Dr. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) having a meltdown after avoiding the situation for quite some time, but Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) was there for her.

And with a death comes a life. Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) gave birth to her and Derek's daughter, Ellis, whom she named after her own mother. She even took some time away from her fellow medical staff members with all of her children.

Meredith did eventually return to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital where she paid homage to her late husband by wearing his scrub cap while performing her first surgery in the operating room since his death.

Anyway, the chaos is far from over. This is a Shonda Rhimes-created series we are talking about after all.

The episode set to air this Thursday, May 7, is called Time Stops, which will have the medical staff in a hectic situation.

According to the press release, the doctors will have "to put their emotions aside when a catastrophic event occurs."

Will this "catastrophic event" be directly related to one or more of the doctors remains to be unseen, but it seems likely since for instance Dr. April Kepner (Sarah Drew) returned from her tour of duty with some demons probably intact.

Grey's Anatomy airs on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
