Season 4 of House of Cards is set to release around the time that the 2016 presidential elections will be held, and this could make the show very relevant.

As Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) fights for his second term as president, there will be a real life parallel election with Hillary Clinton as a forerunner. There are many overlaps which are hard to ignore. Not only that Frank will be fighting for an election but there is a woman who will be challenging him. Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) might also play impediment in his win.

On May 5, a Venture Capital report speculated that the show might draw from aspects of the real elections.

Spacey, who is a good friend of the Clintons, has often brought up former president Bill Clinton when talking about the show, and even did a House of Cards parody, which featured Hillary, to wish Bill happy birthday last year.

In an interview with Gotham magazine, Spacey stated that Bill Clinton had told him that most of what goes on in the show is accurate.

Spacey told the publication that Bill Clinton had told him that loved House of Cards.

The actor, who is famous for his impressions, put on his Clinton voice and told the publication about Clinton's approval of the Netflix drama: "Kevin, 99 percent of what you do on that show is real. The 1 percent you get wrong is you could never get an education bill passed that fast."

This could be added reason for the show to take inspiration from an election that will have Hillary Clinton as a strong candidate.

Season 4 is set to return in 2016.
