The Call the Midwife cast and crew are celebrating Christmas in the springtime.

Watch The Trailer For The 2014 'Call The Midwife' Christmas Episode

On Monday, series writer Heidi Thomas took to Twitter to give the impression that she has the script ready for the show's upcoming holiday episode at the end of this year. And it appears that the episode might be more funny than dramatic.

"Cooking tea while my husband reads my script for #callthemidwife Xmas special. 1st time he's seen it. He's laughing...no, crying. #ourweirdhouse," she wrote.

Does 'Call The Midwife' Have Power To Raise An Awareness In Further Episodes?

A couple of the show's stars also tweeted about the Christmas episode, including Emerald Fennell who plays Patsy. She posted a photo of herself as she smirks with a plate of cookies in her hand.

She captioned the pic, "iiiit's christmaaaaaaas!!! #callthemidwife."

Stephen McGann, who plays Dr. Patrick Turner, posted a photo with a couple pals as they work on the fifth season, which is bound to include the holiday special.

"#callthemidwife series 5 readthrough selfie!! @BBCOne," he wrote.

In an interview with Science Festival, McGann dished on when he knew the show would become a success.

"We knew it was good when we did our first birth scene," he said. "Everybody in the room cried- burly camera operators as well as the actors! It was so moving and compelling. But nobody had any idea just how much the series would catch the public's imagination. We continue to be overwhelmed by the worldwide response."

The Call the Midwife holiday special is expected to air in the United States on Christmas night.
