Martin Freeman will jump from Middlearth to the fraught world of Marvel in Captain America: Civil War.

Known for his turns as The Hobbit's Bilbo Baggins and Sherlock's John Watson, the Brit will dive into another franchise when he appears in 2016's Cap 3.

"From his roles as Bilbo Baggins and Doctor Watson to Tim in The Office, Martin's range from the dramatic to the comedic has consistently impressed us," Marvel's Kevin Feige stated, according to Hypable. "We couldn't be more honored or excited to have such a talented actor join the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

Having one foot in comedy and another in drama is always a plus for anyone who falls under Marvel's purview. Known for infusing dangerous situations with a healthy dose of comedy, the comic book studio calls for actors who can throw out quips as they land in a pool of their own blood.

Unfortunately, It is currently unknown who Freeman will portray as Caps (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) rend a rift in the MCU. The film already has proverbial cast of thousands - everyone from Spider-Man to Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) is in on the action - which make pinning down Freeman's potential role a bit difficult.
