In the footage released by the network just hours ago, Dr. Jeff returns to the set and Leakes can’t hold back tears when the topic of her mother is brought up. Avid viewers of the popular series might remember that Leakes has revealed in previous seasons that she was raised by her aunt after her mother abandoned her.

Leakes’ arch nemesis Kenya Moore reminded her that she had a very similar experience growing up.

“I think that hearing your story right now, we have a lot more in common than you want to even admit,” she said as Leakes looked down and wiped her tears while the therapist comforted her. “You don’t have a relationship with your mother. You felt abandoned. We’re very strong women, I think we know that about each other. when I met you NeNe, I didn’t come for you. I didn’t come in like ‘Oh I’m about to take over.’ We had a really nice start to a friendship whether you want to admit to that or not.”

That’s when Leakes reached her breaking point and stood up to leave. Dr. Jeff tried to stop her but Leakes made it clear she didn’t feel comfortable discussing her mother.

The cast (even her former friend Cynthia Bailey) quickly stood up to embrace her. Still, Moore had to convince Kandi Burruss and Claudia Jordan to to do the same.

“She’s hurting,” Moore said as Burruss mumbled she didn’t get what the fuss was all about.

Leakes then walked out as Porsha Williams, Phaedra Parks and Bailey joined her. The remaining ladies— Moore, Burruss and Jordan stayed behind speechless at Leakes’s emotions. Throughout the scene she continued repeating, “I can’t talk about my mom!”

Take a look.
