Her character appeared to die in an assisted suicide after she was diagnosed with cancer, but there has been no official confirmation concerning Maura West's status as Ava Jerome on General Hospital.

Did Maura West Confirm Rumors She's Leaving 'GH?'

Fans have been speculating for months about the actress' fate on the show, after a series of unfortunate events saw her get shot and fall off a bridge, only to turn up alive and well in New York to find out she was actually dying from cancer. The last time she was on-screen, fans watched as Silas (Michael Easton) appeared to honor her request to end her pain, injecting her with drugs that seemed to end her life.

Despite what appeared to be an on-screen death and an end to her character's arc though, there's been no official confirmations from either West or the soap's writers that she left the show--meaning fans don't know for sure if Ava will turn up alive one more time.

However, whether she comes back or not, it appears West is not currently filming episodes, something William DeVry, who portrays her on-screen brother Julian, confirmed during a live Twitter chat during the show's May 4 Nurse's Ball episode.

During the chat, a fan asked DeVry if, since fans never actually saw Silas get rid of Ava's body, if he actually went through with killing her, and though he wouldn't confirm if that meant she'd be back, he did say she hadn't been around for filming lately.

"You will just have to watch and see. I miss working w @MauraWest tho. Miss her face around studio," he wrote.

If West has not been around for filming in recent weeks, it could mean she is currently not a part of the show's storylines--meaning fans may have to wait a little longer to find out if Ava is actually dead or alive.
