The political drama House of Cards aired its third season just a few months ago and the fourth season is underway in planning since it was announced last month that it had been renewed.

'House of Cards' Fourth Season Inspired By 2016 Presidential Election?

E! Online recently spoke to the creator of the hit Netflix series about the upcoming season.

Beau Willimon told E! Online in the video below, that he "absolutely" does keep tabs on what fans of the series have to say on social media.

Claire Underwood Playing Villain In 'House of Cards' Season 4?

"We have available to us now the ability to communicate with our fans in ways that wasn't possible 10 years ago," he said.

"I love the fact that I can get communication directly from people who just watched an episode and have a million questions to ask that I can engage with them and they know that they're heard," he added.

Fan response doesn't dictate the upcoming season entirely though, which Willimon made clear, why noting he is "very interested in what they have to say."

The creator wouldn't really tease the forthcoming season, but did say many risks were taken with season 3 especially through delving "deeper into the emotional story."

He pointed out that some fans loved seeing the Underwoods (Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright) struggle in the third season instead of their "usual fashion" of kicking butt. Others however didn't like that they had to watch "the Underwoods stumble and sometimes fall and fail."

Is there hope for Spacey's character Frank and Wright's character Claire to salvage their marriage?

Well, that's what Willimon wants fans asking!

"Whether it's completely broken, whether there's any hope of them getting back together, what that will look like if it happens at all, who knows? Willimon dished.

The fourth season of House of Cards will premiere on Netflix next year!
