Castle star Stana Katic is reportedly finalizing her contract to return for season 8 in the fall.

Senator Bracken Coming Back to 'Castle' in Season 8?

Katic, who plays Kate Beckett on the series, is apparently close to signing a new deal with the show, according to Deadline Tuesday. The actress has been holding out for several months alongside fellow star Nathan Fillion, who plays Rick Castle. Fillion signed a new contract in April.

This is good news for fans of Castle, particularly those who love the Castle and Beckett (a.k.a. Caskett) relationship. There has been some question about whether the show would continue past season 7, especially with there being so much uncertainty regarding Katic's status on the show.

'Castle' Returning For Season 8

Fillion and Katic were previously scheduled through season 7 as part of their initial contracts.

Castle is seeing some upheaval behind the scenes though. Show runner David Amann is exiting his post, with show writers Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter stepping in as co-showrunners. Amann had only run the show for season 7 after taking over for show creator Andrew W. Marlowe.

Castle aired its season 7 finale Monday night, in which Beckett was offered the opportunity to potentially run for New York State Senate. Fans are going to have to wait until the fall, though, to see her big decision.

The crime procedural has now turned into one of the longest running shows on ABC. It will likely return to its regular Mondays at 10 p.m. timeslot in the fall.
