Obama Effigy Hanged By California Man As Halloween Prank, Secret Service Get Involved (VIDEO)
A Southern California man who hanged a President Brack Obama effigy as decoration got a surprise knock on his door from the Secret Service.
Eddie Million of Moreno Valley confessed that it was after all a bad idea to hang an effigy of the president by a noose as a Halloween decoration. According to the Press-Enterprise, the offensive effigy was hanging from a tree in Million's front yard. He claimed that the whole thing was "just a misunderstanding."
"This is getting all blown out of proportion," Million told reporters after meeting with Secret Service agents on Tuesday night, according to the Daily News. "It's down. It's gone. We didn't want to hurt the president."
Million pleaded that his only intension was to hang up "something spooky" before his big Halloween party this year, saying, "A noose is scary." He also added that he bought the Obama figure last year at a clearance sale.
Nearby neighbors who were disturbed by the effigy hanged among the zombies and headstones complained.
"I started thinking how bad it looked, and I took it down immediately," Million said.
He even got a visit from the cops on Monday and before he got a chance to take down the effigy, the Secret Service gave him an even bigger scare. Million told Press Enterprise that the agents who visited him said his decoration "could have been construed as a threat to the president."
"They said my name is going to be on file. They said they're just going to make a note," Million said.
Million regrets putting the effigy up, although he claims his only intension was to hang something spooky for the Halloween season.
"If I had it to do all over again, I absolutely wouldn't have done it," he confessed. "It was not meant to offend anybody. It was just supposed to be a decoration."
