NCIS concluded its twelfth season Tuesday night with a major cliffhanger!

Cote de Pablo Reveals How She Wanted To 'Stay' Longer On 'NCIS'

Many viewers just like the NCIS Twitter account are asking the same exact question about Mark Harmon's character Gibbs since he got shot by Luke Harris (Daniel Zolghadri) in Iraq, which was rather shocking.

It's apparent the online terrorist recruitment arc will continue into the next season, but some of the Season 12 cast recently dished on their fantasy storylines for their beloved characters.

'NCIS' Star Emily Wickersham Spreads Awareness About Operation Smile

Weatherly thinks his character Tony DiNozzo is transforming.

"He's been in his larval stage for a very long time so God knows what kind of butterfly this guy's going to turn into," Weatherly explained.

He added he'd like to see his character be "a nuclear butterfly/Godzilla style DiNozzo."

While that doesn't seem like a likely storyline that can be worked into the next season, Wickersham thinks her character Eleanor "Ellie" Bishop's marriage needs to get back on track.

"It would be great to have her relationship kind of back on track, but it's kind of fun having it a little rumbly and rocky," Wickersham said so perhaps viewers will eventually get to see more of Jake (Jamie Bamber) in the future.

Perrette feels as though her character Abby Sciuto "is so funny" so she loves when Abby gets comedic scenes. That seems totally plausible for the next season since Abby does come out with some interesting things to say.

Murray would love to see more of his character Timothy McGee's relationship with Margo Harshman's character Delilah.

"I told Margo 'don't go out and book any shows cause we need you,'" Murray admitted.

Dietzen wants his character Jimmy to become a workaholic new dad since most new fathers tend to submerge themselves in work since they're planning for their child's future.

"I would love to see him trying to step up and just do more at the crime scene and try to do more in autopsy and maybe even stepping on toes in the squad room," he stated.

McCallum would love to see his character Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard as the hero.

He explained it will never happen, but it does sound incredibly intriguing.

"When one man at about 1,500 yards has to be killed to save everybody and Ducky grabs Gibbs' sniper rifle...and takes the guy out," he shared.

So some of these fantasy storylines seem totally reasonable, but time will ultimately tell if any of them will get used in Season 13.
