CBS is ready to close the books on CSI: Las Vegas.

'Agents of SHIELD' Season 3: Where In The Universe Is Simmons? Elizabeth Henstridge Dishes On Finale

After 15 seasons, the pioneering series received the axe on Wednesday. That doesn't mean, however, that D.B. Russell (Ted Danson) and Co. will disappear into the Nevada sunset without a second thought. No, fans will get to see the detectives one last time as the series closes with a special 2-hour movie event.

To create a memorable send off, Crime Scene Investigation will invite back two members of the original cast - Supervisor Gil Grissom (William Petersen) and Asst. Supervisor Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger).

'The Blacklist' Season 2 Spoilers: 'Allegiances Questioned' In The Finale, Mozhan Marno Teases 'Masha Rostova'

The duo will appear when the supersized finale airs on Sept. 27. It is currently unknown what, exactly, will bring the long lost members of the team back into the fold. CBS has not announced whether or not Nick (George Eads) will drop by following his season 15 finale exit.

While the majority of the cast will soon leave the CSI family behind, Danson will jump to CSI: Cyber as it heads into its sophomore year. The CSI series finale will presumably set up that transfer.
