Castle fans probably don't have to worry about the upcoming eighth season being its last.

'Castle' Star Stana Katic Is Officially Back For Season 8!

Castle was finally renewed earlier this month after several months of speculation that it might be cancelled. While the show is increasing in age, ABC president Paul Lee and company do not see it ending anytime soon.

Lee spoke with reporters at the ABC Upfronts this week and revealed that Castle was not going to end with season 8, nor Grey's Anatomy with season 12.

Senator Bracken Coming Back to 'Castle' in Season 8?

"[It's] not the final season of either," Lee said, per TVLine. "And I would like to see them run for many, many years to come. They're both powerful, vibrant brands with incredibly passionate audiences."

Fans of Castle have really been put through the wringer over the last few months. Stars Nathan Fillion (who plays Richard Castle) and Stana Katic (Kate Beckett) were in contract negotiations for several months as both contracts were coming to an end after season 7. It was announced in April that Fillion had signed his contract and it was just announced this week that Katic had signed hers.

The show had been slightly indicating that the end was near, particularly with Castle and Beckett getting married and prominent storylines like the 3XK serial killer being brought up again and more or less concluded.

But now it is going to return for season 8 with stars Fillion and Katic, and it is unknown how long the crime procedural will go on.

Castle season 8 debuts this fall in the Mondays at 10 p.m. timeslot on ABC.
