Season 7 of The Good Wife will most likely move away from the political realm the show immersed itself in the previous chapter, and refocus on good ol' legal drama.

Critics Unforgiving Of Controversial Season 6 Finale Scene Of The Good Wife

Alicia is starting out fresh after having taken dramatic hits, and losing her State's Attorney win and her place in her partnership with Diane (Christine Baranski) and Cary (Matt Czuchry). Part of starting over for her is starting her own firm, and in the finale of season 6, Finn Polmar (Matthew Goode) had to bid Alicia farewell, realizing that their partnership will not work as he had romantic feelings for her. But as Alicia was left in the lurch, a new savior has an offer for her.

Louis Canning (Michael J. Fox) knocked on her door asking her if she wanted to partner up. Canning was pretty disgruntled with Diane and Cary too, as they let go of his wife, who worked at Lockhart/Agos. If Alicia takes Canning's offer, things could become very interesting going forward. But it's a wonder how hard she will come down on her old partners and close friends Diane and Cary. Canning's agenda seems clear as he is fuming at them, and it seemed like he'd do anything to get back at them.

Season 7 To Conclude CBS Legal Drama?

In fact it seems very likely that Alicia will partner with Canning. Her softening up to her usual nemesis in the court was seen earlier in season 6 when she went to visit him in hospital. Canning was unconscious and Alicia expressed compassion toward him.

The finale, entitled 'Wanna Partner?' aired on CBS on May 10.
