Jennifer Aniston nearly bared it all at museum gala in Los Angeles this weekend.

The actress visited the Los Angeles County Museum of Art with fiance Justin Theroux for the 2012 Art + Film Gala honoring Ed Ruscha and Stanley Kubrick, but her attire got more attention that the art on display.

Aniston opted for a revealing black Tom Ford gown, which was extremely low cut and showed off ample cleavage. Her primary accessory was the enormous engagement ring Theroux gave her when he popped the question in August, which includes a giant diamond and has been valued at about $500,000.

Some fans thought the dress, which was nearly cut to Aniston's belly button, was over-the-top, and some commented on the photos to criticize Aniston's sartorial selection.

"Why is it necessary to show chest...who is she aiming it at?" one commenter wrote. "The dress however is smashing and she has a great figure...it just took the class away from the whole picture."

The look was out of the ordinary for Aniston, who usually goes to simple and chic basics. But the actress opened up about her tastes to InStyle magazine in March, remarking that she is looking to be more adventurous.

"On the red carpet, it's time for me to start doing something different," Aniston said. "If I could wear a jersey tank that went down to the floor, I would. ... I love Christopher Bailey for Burberry. And Tom Ford. I have his skirts, jackets and shoes, but I don't know how to walk in them. I've tried! I need to lop off a little of the heel. They require serious strength."

And once she's tired of a certain garment, she told the magazine it never goes to waste.

"I try to weed out stuff. My girlfriends come over for cheese and wine and go shopping in my wardrobe. They especially love it when they get stuff with a tag still on," she said.
