Transformers 5 might undo the damage of Transformers: Age of Extinction's weak storyline, if the creative forces behind it are anything to go on.

Deadline reports that Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, Pacific Rim's Zak Penn, and Amazing Spider-Man 2's Jeff Pinkner.

The report reveals that Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg, and Lorenzo Di Bonaventura are at the top of the project. As previously stated that Akiva Goldsman had beeen chosen by them to lead the writer's team.

Brian Goldner, CEO of Hasbro, revealed that the movie was aiming for a 2017 release.

Shia LaBeouf Dishes About Transformers' 'Alternate Universe'  

According to the previous Deadline report the writers will be brainstorming about ideas not only for the fifth installment but possible multi-part sequels and spin-offs. Bay, whose next project, a movie based on the book, Thirteen Hours: A Firsthand Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi by Mitchell Zuckoff, hopes to get cracking on Transformers 5 right after he is done. The director would like the script and screenplay to be worked out by then so no time is wasted.

Transformers: Age of Extinction hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
