Sarah Paulson Reveals Why She Was 'Jealous' Of Jessica Lange

Paulson, who has had starring roles in the last three seasons of American Horror Story, recently spoke with The Wrap about the Emmys and how she has a bit of an obsession with awards.

"I was one of those girls who dreamt of doing this when I was a really small child. I've watched the Emmy Awards for as long as I can remember," Paulson said. "I have a lot of friends who have them, and believe me, I've been known to be in the rooms of their houses with these Emmys for a little too long, just stroking them."

She even told a story about taking a nap with one of those Emmys, which "was a little disconcerting to my friend."

Paulson has been nominated for her work every year since 2012. She received a nomination for Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her role as Nicolle Wallace in the TV movie Game Change in 2012. In 2013, she was nominated for the same category for her performance as Lana Winters in American Horror Story: Asylum. She was then bumped up to Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her role as Cordelia in AHS: Coven last year.

Now she is hoping to receive a nomination for playing Dot and Bette Tattler in AHS: Freak Show. According to awards prognosticating site GoldDerby, she is in the no. 1 position to receive a nomination in Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie.

Paulson further suggested to the Wrap that the awards don't mean everything, especially considering some of the most legendary actors have never won an Oscar or an Emmy.

"I think there is award worship, in general, but I think it's only negative in terms of what you do with it," Paulson explained. "If you decide without it you're nothing, or your work has meant nothing if you never win one - there are incredible actors who have never won an Academy Awards or Emmys, who deserve to."

The Emmy nominations for 2015 will be announced on July 16.

Meanwhile, Paulson will return to American Horror Story for Hotel, the show's fifth season, which will air in October.
