Maks Chmerkovskiy recently admitted that he did make some "mistakes" during his long stint on ABC's Dancing With the Stars.

Chmerkovskiy, who left the show after winning season 18 last spring with Meryl Davis, sat down for a candid interview with Entertainment Tonight recently. The dancer expressed his pride in his brother Val Chmerkovskiy winning the current season with Rumer Willis.

"I'm very proud. I know what it takes," Maks said. "It took me a lot longer than it took him, but to go all the way and actually hoist the trophy is a big deal."

It took Val eight seasons to win Dancing With the Stars, while Maks finally won the Mirrorball trophy in his 14th season as a pro.

While Maks is certainly a fan favorite among the DWTS audience, he has no intention of returning as a pro dancer anytime soon.

"I'm not coming back because I don't have the contract, and I've moved on with my life," Maks revealed. "I will entertain the idea of being part of the show in some other capacity."

During his run on the show, Maks was shown to be a bit of a "bad boy" who wasn't afraid to express his opinions. The dancer spoke to this habit in the interview.

"I may have come across as angry in some instances in the past," Maks said. "I've made mistakes. I've reconciled with some people ... I'm also an entrepreneur and I'm interested in other things."

Meanwhile, Val will not be following in the footsteps of his brother and leave after winning. Val is returning for season 21 this fall.

Dancing With the Stars is set to return for a new season in the fall on ABC. The show will be returning to its regular Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT timeslot.
