The Mountain Men's desire to catch the 48 and their Mount Weather allies knew no bounds as season 2 of The 100 came to a close. That does not mean, however, that Wallace and his cohorts were willing to sabotage their own equipment to do so.

No matter how badly Cage wanted to corral Maya and the Sky Teens, the Mount Weather leader did not stoop so low as to tamper with his society's only life line. Maya, whose death was undeniably tragic, did not loose her suit's oxygen supply courtesy of a vicious scheme.

 "Ultimately, that would have been risky on the Mountain Men's part. A) If they could sabotage the tank, why not just wait for Maya to come get it, and then grab her instead? B) It takes 48 hours for the marrow treatment to work. What if the war brought people outside? Sabotaging any oxygen tanks would have been a very ballsy move. Maybe too ballsy," The 100 Writers Room wrote on Friday. "Mount Weather is very old, so we believe the oxygen tank was just faulty. It happens sometimes. Bad luck."
