Good news for fans having withdrawals from Fox’s Empire!

‘Empire' Star Kaitlin Doubleday Gets Engaged, TV Husband Trai Byers Responds ‘This Is Epic!’

The official date for the second season premiere has been announced. None other than Taraji P. Henson who plays fan favorite Cookie took to Twitter to reveal the news after a fan asked when Empire will return to the small screen.

“Hello! September 23 #Empire season [two].”

Season Two Will ‘Blow AwayThe Audience’, Alicia Keys, Chris Rock & More To Make Cameos

It looks like the entire cast will return for the juggernaut serious as well. It will definitely be interesting to see where the show goes from here. Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) was just arrested for the murder of his childhood best friend and Cookie’s cousin, Bunkie. But what he doesn’t know yet is that his son Andre Lyon (Trai Byers) and his wife Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday).

On top of that Rhonda revealed that she and Andre are expecting their first child! But the drama didn’t end there. It turns out Lucious actually fathered the child that his son, Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett), thought was his. And as if the father of the music entertainment company didn’t have enough drama, his youngest son Hakeem (Bryshere Gray) is attempting to take down Lucious for good.

Some notable characters set for a return as well is Naomi Campbell who plays Camille, Hakem’s much older girlfriend. What’s interesting is that Lucious tried to pay her off to go back to her hometown of London. But we haven’t seen the last of her. It’s likely that Raven Symoné who plays Olivia, the mother of Lucious’ love child will return in attempt to get a piece of Empire that could belong to their daughter.

The countdown to September 23 has begun.
