One Direction fans are in quite the frenzy today, June 1 thanks to a bizarre trend on Twitter, which hints Zayn Malik may be rejoining the British-Irish boy band.

Since his departure tensions have been high as his friend and producer Naughty Boy has gotten into spats with Tomlinson as well as 1D fans on Twitter.

Last month, the remaining 1D members were on The Late Late Show with James Corden and Payne admitted that initially they were "a little bit angry," but all is well.

Fans appear to have hope that Malik will rejoin the band since overnight on Twitter, the hashtag, "#WelcomeBackTo1DZayn" boomed.

A Brazilian Directioner is responsible for starting this trending topic on Twitter.

Due to all the emotional distress her trend caused, she had to explain her reasoning to give false hope. She claims it was all one big joke.

"This is just a joke. When Zayn left 1D the [B]razilian part of the fandom cried really hard," she admitted in a TwitLonger.

Apparently joking about Malik's return is a coping mechanism, but the majority of Directioners aren't pleased with it.
