Amanda Peet made a guest appearance on "The Good Wife" on Sunday night and some reviews are giving her two thumbs up for her performance.

The actress played Captain Hellinger, a military officer accusing a civilian contractor of trying to rape her while she was in Afghanistan. The episode, titled "The Art of War" was also a directorial debut for Josh Charles, who is a regular on the show.

Peet's performance got reviews saying that she did a good job of holding her ground in the television world.

"You know how sometimes you're watching something and you can't see the actor as anything but the actor?" Huffington Post reviewer Chris Harnick wrote. "That wasn't so with Amanda Peet. I completely forgot it was her, which is a compliment. Just add her to the list of guest stars who successfully play against type and turn in a fine performance."

This is not Peet's first guest appearance on a television show - her number of roles include one on "How I Met Your Mother - however, most people know the actress, 40, for her big screen performances. She was in "A Lot Like Love" with Ashton Kutcher, "Something's Gotta Give" with Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton, and was Bruce Willis' love interest and Matthew Perry's best friend in the films "The Whole Nine Yards" and "The Whole Ten Yards."

Before the episode aired, Charles spoke to Entertainment Weekly about Peet's role on the show and revealed the following:

"You see a woman whose life is a little shattered at the moment. Something that she believed in and trusted has fallen apart on her, and she's fighting it. She connects with Alicia, whose world had fallen apart in a very public way and has come out the other side. To see that relationship develop in the midst of that was pretty great."
