ABC's new eerie drama The Whispers remains a mystery on what exactly the characters are dealing with- but not for too much longer.

'Secrets & Lies' Season 2 Chatter

On Monday, TV Line shared an interview with the show's leading actor Barry Sloane who plays Wes on the series. Starring on the show about a group of children with an imaginary friend that no one can see, the actor mentioned that answers will be revealed after only a few episodes.

"By the end of Episode 4, you'll know exactly what it is we're dealing with," Sloane said. "We don't drag [the mystery] out for 13 episodes. You're learning as the characters are learning, and the whole thing takes place in nine days."

Ryan Phillippe Opens Up On Drama Series 'Secrets & Lies'

The promo (posted below) gives the impression that it could be aliens trying to manipulate the children into following their orders. It could also be some kind of creepy ghost, but whatever it is, the potential supernatural won't be the only drama taking place. Sloane mentioned that there will be personal things to work out for his character as he deals with his life in politics and family.

"He's a father and a husband, first and foremost, and he's very driven in his professional life," the actor said. "I mean, the guy above him is the Secretary of Defense, so he's done quite well for someone in his mid-30s. But the story picks up at a time when his life is starting to spiral. He's coming off an affair with [Claire], which has been revealed and he's trying to rebuild the relationship with his wife and daughter."

The Whispers premieres on Monday, June 1 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
