Tony Tost, a writer on Longmire, tweeted a photo of the clapper for the new episode, along with a message about the episode.

"First day filming #Longmire 408. Mega excited. My 12th Longmire script and (I think) one of my best," Tost wrote.

The tweet was favorited and retweeted by multiple followers, along with several replies.

"Have a great day.. and by the way, all your scripts are the best," one follower said.

Another asked, "How many scripts are you writing for this season? Is this the first one?" to which Tost replied, "408 is my 3rd script this season (402, 405, 408)."

With production now starting on the eighth episode of the season, it's looking like the end is near. With only 10 episodes in the season, the cast and crew of Longmire will not be in New Mexico for much longer.

A&E cancelled Longmire back in August of last year due to low ratings in the adults 18-49 demographic. However, the show was still the highest rated scripted show on the network. After a big Twitter campaign by the show's diehard fans, Netflix swooped in and renewed the show for a 10-episode fourth season in November.

Longmire season 4 is set to be released on Netflix in the fall, though the company has not yet announced a specific release date.
