Are Jude and Connor going to live happily ever after as one of the most popular gay teen couples on television when The Fosters returns? Or, are they about to face some more inconvenient circumstances?

Is Callie Going To Find A New Love Interest On 'The Fosters?'

When the heartfelt drama ended its second season, the two finally made their relationship official after facing numerous amounts of misfortunes that stood in their way, including Connor's controlling father. Now that they're exclusive boyfriends, audiences might be wondering what comes next in their romance. Considering that The Fosters rarely goes a full episode without some sort of drama taking place, odds are likely that it won't be all rainbows and butterflies for the 'Jonnor' romance.

Enstars recently had the chance to chat with Hayden Byerly (Jude) and Gavin MacIntosh (Connor) at the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles Voice Awards, and the two actors opened up on where their on-screen characters' relationship will head from here.

Actress Reveals Where 'The Fosters' Will Pick Up Following The Car Accident

According to Byerly, when the third season premieres on ABC Family, fans can probably expect some challenges for the teen boys that they're going to have to battle.

"I think that there's always going to be obstacles," the actor said. "We're going to see how they develop as a relationship. Towards the end of Season 2, we kind of saw that they finally chose that they were going to be in a relationship together, that they were going to be boyfriends, but I kind of think that we're going to see a little bit more struggles about that, how they deal with that relationship and what struggles they're going to come up in this new relationship."

Still, the duo will likely care for and support each other no matter what. In fact, MacIntosh revealed a particular scene that he feels especially proud of, which some might remember as the first time Connor helped Jude find the confidence to express himself in the first season.

"The scene with the blue nail polish, it makes such an impact," MacIntosh said. "The first thing he really did for him was kind of the founding of their friendship-relationship and it was kind of the backbone for them."

Aside from Jude and Connor's relationship, what about the other characters? Jesus, Mariana and their birth mother, Ana, were in a major car accident in the season finale and rumor has it that Jesus (Jake T. Austin) could be killed off. Ever since the actor announced via Twitter that he would not be returning to the series, many fans have been speculating on the character's possible demise.

Although the two couldn't comment exactly on Jesus' fate, Byerly did open up on Austin's departure from the series with genuine words of encouragement.

"We wish him luck in the future," Byerly said. "We're sad to see him go, but we hope that he has a good career ahead of him."

The Fosters Season 3 premieres on Monday, June 8 on ABC Family.
