'Destiny' Fans Raise Over $1 Million For Nepal Earthquake Relief, Recieve Special T-Shirt & In-Game Items In Return
Video game communities have rallied for some great causes in the past, and the Destiny fanbase has shown tremendous support for Nepal earthquake relief.

Developer Bungie raised over $1 million for victims of the April disaster in Nepal through its Destiny fans, sending proceeds of limited-edition in-game and physical to charity Direct Relief. Bungie sold a special t-shirt as well as an in-game character color shader and emblem to help drive donations, which resulted in a $1,026,006.80 total for charity.
"With special thanks to Activision for matching a $50,000 contribution from the Bungie Foundation, the fundraising drive is over," Bungie community manager DeeJ wrote in the weekly update. "Now comes the business of putting those funds to work. Check out the tangible results. Thanks to your support, Direct Relief is outbound with everything you can see here - with the exception of the Guardians presenting the check. They're staying home. The rest is destined for Nepal."

The shirts are shipping now on a first-come, first-served basis, and the shader and emblem will arrive some time later this summer. Direct Relief, for its part, is impressed and eternally grateful to Bungie and its fans for the support.

Every penny will be spent to help strengthen essential health services that were needed before the earthquakes and much more so now."
