Audience favorite Gregory Smith is taking on a role behind the camera of ABC’s Rookie Blue this season and the drama only goes up from there.

Smith, who plays Dov on the police drama, will also be the director for the third episode of the upcoming sixth season! (Don’t worry he’s still going to be in front of the camera as well)

In a behind-the-scenes look of the episode, Smith opens up about the episode that will show Andy, Juliet and Gail in the middle of a brutal riot at that breaks out in a women’s prison.

New ‘Rookie Blue’ Episodes ‘Promise’ To Have ‘Nail-Biting Storylines’ & ‘Curveballs’ As Marlo Is Pregnant

“We had these stunt women who totally brought their a-game,” Smith said.

Tassie Cameron, who is the co-executive producer, said they like to “refer to this as the zombie episode.” They go as far as making their way into the infirmary, which ends with an explosive like situation.

She added that Smith is definitely a fan of all the action from throwing chairs to punches swinging.

But Smith had to admit that he was a bit nervous to take on the dangerous task.

“It was scary. I was kind of scared to go in there and give direction.”

Still, he put his nerves aside and his co-star Missy Peregrym, who plays Andy said he was fantastic.

“He’s made to do this.”

As for Peregrym, she dubbed this episode as “one of the craziest that I’ve done.”
