Pauley Perrette is well known for playing the quirky Abby Sciuto on CBS' NCIS, but she also is a huge advocate for various charities and organizations, including LGBT rights, animal rescue and so much more.

The actress prior to her happy romantic relationship with Thomas Arklie that she's currently in experienced abuse from her ex husband Francis "Coyote" Shivers.

On Saturday, she demonstrated with an image of drawn on bruises that it's never okay to be in a relationship with someone who is abusive.

"If your mate EVER leaves bruises on you like the one my ex left on me? (pen drawing of it) LEAVE!" she urged on Twitter.

That prompted a lot of followers of the NCIS star to comment about their own struggles with abuse from significant others. One fan shared an image of their eye-swollen shut courtesy of their ex's violence toward them.

Perrette said, "Call police and LEAVE NOW!"

The fan went on to explain that the photo is just a memory and reminder to never fall back into an abusive relationship with anyone else ever again.

Perrette needed to clarify that her current relationship wasn't the one she was speaking of in the tweet that set off the big discussion between her fans.

She went on to call her fiancé the "best guy ever!"

Perrette is very open and seems to have inspired the masses that happiness is attainable even after darkness falls. Aside from acting, Perrette is a musician too, but she said Christina Perri has the best song about an abusive ex. It's Perri's "Jar of Hearts," which she tweeted the music video for.

While Perrette has experienced abuse she shared she'd "never write a song about [an] abusive ex."

NCIS will return to CBS in the fall.
