Justin Bieber wants Selena Gomez back and believes their split is just a temporary "blip."

"It's not just over for Justin and Selena," a source told Daily Mail. "Whatever happens they have a lot to talk about."

With news of their split having made headlines around the world, the couple still want to make an effort to re-connect.

"They're both being a bit cagey and stubborn but they're desperate to see one another," the source added. "This isn't new for them, they often have a tumultuous relationship. We all expect them to work it out."

Another source told TMZ that the 18-year-old is not involved with anyone else, despite being seen with Hungarian fashion model Barbara Palvin, 19.

The source told the gossip site that the Canadian singer is not "freaked out" over the split, because he believes it's just a temporary "blip."

Gomez flew to New York on Saturday with "tentative plans" to meet Bieber before his Brooklyn concert at Barclays Center on Monday, Nov.12.

While Gomez is in New York for a promotional stop for her K-Mart clothing line, there is no confirmation on whether she will attend his scheduled performance.

On Saturday, Nov. 10, Bieber refused to comment on the breakup during a radio show interview.

"I don't know what to say," Bieber told Open House Party.

The split came several days after Justin was seen chatting and flirting with models backstage at the 2012 Victoria's Secret show in New York City on Wednesday, Nov.7.

The next day he was seen taking Palvin, one of the show's models, to see "The Lion King" on Broadway.

After receiving backlash from "Beliebers" for the outing, Palvin denied reports of dating Bieber on Twitter.

"Hey everyone. please calm down. he is all yours!! :) please :)," Palvin wrote.

"Last time I'm saying it. please calm down.there is nothing going on w him.i met him and did a pic w him. wouldn't u do the same?:) #friendship," she added.
