Security Specialist Hayley Among New Characters Debuting on 'Castle' Next Season

The upcoming eighth season of Castle will feature the introduction of Hayley, a security specialist whose actress is expected to have fractional series regular status. With many wondering what role Hayley will have in the new season, TVLine has some new info on one character with which she will be spending some time.

Hayley will apparently be hanging around Castle quite frequently in season 8, according to a new TVLine report. The report also says that there is "no good way to say this" information, which may suggest that Castle becomes a little too close with Hayley.

This would obviously anger fans of "Caskett" so it doesn't seem likely that they'll go to the extent of Castle having some sort of affair with Hayley, but it does raise some questions. It's possible that Beckett could just become the new captain of the precinct and that Hayley is Castle's replacement partner. Obviously, Castle and Beckett are happily married so we don't expect any infidelity in the future.

The news comes after a year of the show's future being uncertain. Fillion and Katic did not sign contracts to return until the final weeks of the TV season, and some were speculating that ABC might be wrapping up the show. However, it is indeed returning for another season with all of the stars intact - except Penny Johnson Jerald, who played Captain Gates.

Castle season 8 premieres Monday, Sept. 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
