Supernatural will place Jensen Ackles at the helm when filming begins for season 11.

'Supernatural' Season 11: Premiere Date Revealed, Sam & Dean Take On The Darkness This October

It's deja vu all over again. The actor behind Dean Winchester kicked of production for season 10 by stepping behind the camera for last year's third episode, and it appears Ackles is scheduled to give repeat performance this July.

"The 1st Ep of @cw_spn that we will shoot for season 11 will be 3rd to air on October 21, 2015 #SPNfamily with @JensenAckles at the helm!" co-executive producer Jim Michaels teased on Thursday.

The episode will be titled "The Bad Seed," according to TV Line, and will feature a new recurring character named Amara. The femme fatale will be new to Earth and will have a vitriolic tongue that should render her more than capable of giving the Winchester bros. a verbal lashing.

It remains to be seen whether or not Amara will have ties to the Darkness.

Filming is expected to being on July 7, according to YVR Shoots, and Ackles returned to Vancouver on Wednesday in order to participate in pre-production (see photo below).
