With the recent conclusion of season 6 of The Good Wife, fans have already started suffering withdrawal, but news about developments in the next chapter have been trickling through to keep them going.

Elsbeth Set To Return In Season 7

Alicia (Julianna Margulies) has had a falling out with Cary (Matt Czuchry) and Diane (Christine Baranski) and will most likely partner up with Louis Canning (Michael J. Fox) in season 7 of the show. Alicia is also good friends with Cary and Diane, and this might hugely impact her personal relationship with the duo. In a recent interview Czuchry addressed the question. "I think what could be interesting is if they're on opposite sides, but they're in a different place in terms of their connection," Czuchry said. "They are friends and I think there's a mutual respect there, so if they are against each other but have that friendship at the same time, those gray areas, to be able to play that, would be interesting."

There will be some other pretty dramatic changes lined up, some main characters -- one very pivotal one exited with season 6 -- and won't be returning for the seventh one. Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) has left a huge void in the series, and the showrunners will definitely have to write in a great character to fill her shoes. It was recently revealed that Matthew Goode, who plays Finn Polmar will also not be returning. So Alicia's lost one strong romantic prospect for the next season. In season 6 she had a dalliance with her handler, Johnny Elfman (Steven Pasquale) but quickly retreated before she could be bound up by any emotional attachment, even though he had fallen for her. Elfman also left towards the end of season 6 after Alicia made clear to him that it was nothing more than casual liaison to her, and his work as her campaign manager was done.

Critics Unforgiving Of Controversial Season 6 Finale Scene Of The Good Wife

So in season 7 Alicia's romantic life will need new candidates, and fans are more than ready to see Alicia in a new place. We do know she is starting afresh professionally as well.

Earlier this year it was revealed that British actress Cush Cumbo will be joining the cast for the next chapter.

Speaking to TV Guide, showrunner Robert and Michelle King clarified that Cumbo was not a replacement for Kalinda.

"I wouldn't say she's replacing Archie because she's irreplaceable, but we wanted someone who could fill that same interesting dynamic on the show without doing the same thing," Robert said.

Michelle added that they hadn't quite figured her role in the CBS legal drama yet, so the intention was not to bring her on board to fill Kalinda's shoes.

She said: "We're still figure out exactly [her role], but we're not suggesting that Cush will be an investigator or take on that role."

The next chapter of the legal drama is set to premiere on CBS on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 9 p.m.

The season 6 finale, entitled 'Wanna Partner?' aired on CBS on May 10.
