Eric Dane Claims He & Patrick Dempsey Reached Their Points On 'Grey's Anatomy' Where 'It Was Time For Us To Go'

Scorsone crossed over from the Grey's Anatomy spin-off Private Practice and has found a lovely home amongst the rest of the cast.

Design & Trend recently chatted with the Grey's Anatomy star all about the bond between the cast members.

Could Katherine Heigl Return To 'Grey's Anatomy' Next Season?

"I think one of the incredible things about Grey's Anatomy is that it's been on for such a long time, so there is the opportunity to form relationships that are lasting and that grow and that change. So, I do think it's an incredibly close cast, just because we've had years to get to know each other," she revealed of working with her costars, including Ellen Pompeo (Dr. Meredith Grey on the series) and the recently removed Patrick Dempsey (Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd on the series).

"We spend as many hours on set as we do with our families often times, so a lot of people have known each other for an extraordinary number of years, and that just builds a huge intimacy and closeness," she explained, adding, "I think that always in terms of how that affects the acting; I think it's always going to be a bonus."

Scorsone's character Dr. Amelia Shepherd has been through a lot especially in the eleventh season, which wrapped airing in May so it makes sense that the bond between the cast definitely shows through their acting especially during intense moments. They have so much trust in each other so they can lend themselves to give the best performances possible.

"Knowing that you've seen each other through things and through life and knowing that you've had each other's backs. Acting takes a lot of courage to be vulnerable sometimes, so I think it's really important to nurture and foster relationships on set so that you feel safe enough so that you can do the scary stuff that we are often asked to do," Scorsone revealed.

Grey's Anatomy returns to ABC on September 24 at 8 p.m. ET for its Season 12 premiere.
