Kim Kardashian put on a gorgeous evening gown and spent the evening on the arm of a handsome man Thursday night - but it wasn't her boyfriend Kanye West.

Kardashian rearranged her busy scheduled to attend a Marine Corps ball Thursday. The 32 year old reality TV star flew into North Carolina to be a special guest for the HQ Battery 10th Marine Birthday Ball with her military date, a man named Sgt. Gardiner.

The "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star wore a stunning red gown that hugged her famous curves and popped against her dark skin tone. She kept the look simple, accessorizing with only an understated black clutch handbag and sparkling diamond earrings.

Kardashian's trip to North Carolina for the military ball came after she returned stateside following a trip to London to promote the latest extension of her clothing line, Kardashian Kollection for Dorothy Perkins, which she designs with her sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian.

Kim wrote a post for her Celebuzz profile to gush about her time and London, and she said the launch party for her fashion line was by far the highlight of her experience there.

"The highlight of my trip to London was our signing at Westfield where we met hundreds of our London fans and celebrated the launch of our Kardashian Kollection for Dorothy Perkins," Kim wrote. "The turn out was absolutely incredible!! We were all amazed by how many people had lined up for hours to meet us. You were all so sweet and supportive!! Thank you so much to everyone who came out."

During the launch party, Kim spoke to reporters about an English woman who has become one of her personal style icons - Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge. Kardashian said she admired Middleton's wardrobe and would love to see her wearing pieces from the Kardashian Kollection.

"She hoped Kate might be seen wearing one of the designs out in public, which would give their fashion credentials a huge boost," a source said. "The Kardashians want to be as big in Britain as they are in America, and think associating themselves with the Royals, especially Kate, will help them achieve that."
