Falling Skies' ragtag survivors will need to tap into their anger reserves to oust the Espheni once and for all, and the formerly levelheaded Tom Mason will be the one to kick the 2nd Mass into high gear.

Unfortunately, it looks like the professor will take it too far.

The season 5 premiere, "Find Your Warrior," certainly forced Tom (Noah Wyle) to live up to it's title. From sending Matt into the field to emptying an entire clip into an already dead Espheni, Wyle's character is far from the book-toting, idealistic father we meet in season 1.

"There is a darker turn to the character for sure this year, but it was inevitable," Wyle explained to Yahoo! TV. "Now that humans have the tactical advantage for the first time, he's going to have to help people tap into their more aggressive, more base selves. Instead of being the kind of quarterback who lifts his team to a victory, he's going to kick his team down the field to victory."

Anne (Moon Bloodgood) has already warned her new husband that losing themselves to anger is not the answer (hmm...that sounds extremely similar to something Tom said to Ben back in Boston) and Weaver (Will Patton) is keeping a wary eye on his pal, but it won't be until episode 3, "Hatchlings," that the leader's dark choices will have lasting repercussions.
