One of the longest marriages in rock and roll is coming to a close.

Vivian Campbell, the 50-year-old guitarist for Def Leppard, is splitting from his wife Julie after 25 years of marriage.

Campbell's relationship with his wife started before he joined the legendary rock band. The couple was married in Feb. 1987, five years before the guitarist attached himself to Def Leppard.

The reason for the slip is due to irreconcilable differences with the motion filed under the Los Angeles Supreme Court.

Some of the details released from the court documents show that Cambell is seeking joint legal and physical custody of his 11 and 13-year-old daughters. He's also asking for the judge in the case to deny spousal support to his soon to be ex-wife Julie.

Campbell spoke about his family life in 2010 during an interview with Guitar International. The Def Leppard guitarist remarked that it was his wife who helped him think about doing a blues record: "About twenty years ago, my wife heard me sing. She said 'You know, you sing like a blues guy. You play guitar like a blues guy, too. Maybe you should do a blues record.' I laughed, and told her to go away and stop being a silly woman."

The blues album the Irish musician references is "Two Sides of If", released in 2005 by Sanctuary Records.

Before he joined Def Leppard, Campbell played for the heavy metal band Dio as well as a brief stint in Whitesnake in 1987 when John Sykes left the rock band.

Campbell had joined the popular English New Wave metal/rock band Def Leppard in April 1992 following the death of original guitarist Steve Clark.

The band is set to play a nine-show residency at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas starting March 22 and going until April 10, 2013.
