Fans of The Vampire Diaries are definitely curious to see where things will wind up between Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola) and Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) in the upcoming season of the supernatural series.

During the sixth season that wrapped airing in May, Accola's character made some pretty awful decisions, which in turn affected Stefan poorly. They both went without humanity for a little while!

Luckily they were both able to overcome the no humanity thing and Stefan did promise he would wait for her at the end of the season. She seems to want to be on her own presently, but there is no denying the chemistry between them, which is bound to brew once again when Season 7 starts airing.

While speaking with TV Guide, Accola dished there is certainly hope for them to get together as a legitimate couple.

"[I feel like] six seasons is a nice, long slow-burn, so I'm excited to see these characters together," Accola shared.

"Usually, it's so immediate, especially on our series ... but in real life, it's the person you can be yourself in front of in the most dorky way. Both of these characters have seen the worst in each other and they still like each other and I think that's really cool and that's really special," she explained.

It definitely sounds like Season 7 will be filled with their blossoming romance.

The series returns to The CW in the fall for Season 7.
