Dr. Zola cropped up at the end of the series' freshman run, but Carter's storyline will take a hard left as the winter season opens. From Zola (Toby Jones) to Captain America (Chris Evans), Peggy (Hayley Atwell) will leave the super soldier plot behind her as she jumps from NYC to Los Angeles.

"At this point, we're telling a new story," executive producer Tara Butters informed Entertainment Weekly.

That doesn't mean Marvel fans will suddenly be trust into new and uncharted territory. The ABC series will still draw heavily from comic book lore, and executive producer Michelle Fazekas explained.

"People who are fans of the Marvel comic book universe will recognize our villain and there's more than one villain," Fazekas teased, according to Entertainment Weekly. "We're certainly taking inspiration from the comic book universe, so anybody who knows that will be rewarded."

Despite all the changes (and new characters), fans can expect to see some old familiar faces during season 2. Atwell hinted that Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) will return, and both Jarvis (James D'Arcy) and Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj) have been confirmed.
